"I absolutely believe that Dr. Maya Angelou's work reflected the values she learned from her precious grandmother. I too, was raised by my grandmother. My mom was a single working mother, so her mother was a huge support system for all of us. My grandmother has been the center of my world... My life is the opposite of Dr. Angelou's. While she was silent earlier in her life and her grandmother helped her to break that silence, my grandmother's passing in January of 2013, left this then-31 year old silent for quite some time. Indeed it felt like my world stopped. "Love liberates." Dr. Maya Angelou Those poignant words from Dr. Angelou ring true to my spirit as well. It didn't take me long to pause and come to the realization that my grandmother's love gave me wings to fly and soar through this life, even after her departure. Grandmothers are truly life's greatest treasures!"
